The stylish young woman, seemingly unaware of the artist’s presence, appears lost in idle contemplation of the sea. That fall, Lautrec derived a color lithograph from drawings made after a photograph taken on the ship, capturing the informality of a fleeting glance in a style he had perfected in his paintings and prints in the 1890s. The following year, the artist used the lithograph as a poster for an exhibition with the Salon des Cent, an international group of one hundred artists who sold their prints collectively at monthly exhibitions in Paris.</P></SPAN>","remarks":"K4-6 Rotation July 2014"}],"datebegin":1895,"sortnumber":"1965   55x","published_date":"2026-02-11 08:34:54.235869","objectid":10362,"dimensions":"sight: 60.4 × 39.7 cm (23 3/4 × 15 5/8 in.)\r\nframe: 77.5 × 57.5 × 3.5 cm (30 1/2 × 22 5/8 × 1 3/8 in.)","on_view":false}
