He made ten etchings and drypoints between 1907 and 1913, but few were published at that time; <EM>Bass</EM> was among the uneditioned plates discovered in Braque’s studio in the late 1940s. The print exemplifies the Analytic Cubist style developed by Braque and Picasso, breaking objects into multiple facets. <EM>Bass</EM> evokes a scene in a café, with bottles of beer and wine on a table that is suggested by the illusion of woodgrain.
