His subject here, Malcolm Forbes, graduated from Princeton in 1941 and went on to assume the leadership of Forbes magazine (first established by his father, B. C. Forbes, in 1917) from 1964 until his death in 1990. Forbes was an avid collector of Fabergé eggs; specially shaped hot-air balloons, including one in the form of his château in France; and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He is depicted here in his motorcycle suit, surrounded by motorcycle helmets, in a work that long hung in the lobby of the Forbes Building in Manhattan.\n
\n
\n\t
\n
","remarks":"Princeton Collects PUAM-LABELS_G32_6x10_Batch2_FNLvendor-Day 1 cataloguing "}],"media":[{"id":236739,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/CFA-2_ref","isprimary":1,"rank":1,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":"Restricted Download - Under Copyright","caption":"Reference Image"}],"hasimage":"true","bibliography":[{"boilertext":null,"citation":null,"date":1980,"id":10018,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/5987080"},{"boilertext":"Paul Bowles and Hugo Valcarce. Claudio Bravo: Paintings and Drawings, New York: Abbeville Press, 1997.","citation":"Paul Bowles and Hugo Valcarce. Claudio Bravo: Paintings and Drawings, New York: Abbeville Press, 1997., no. 87","date":1997,"id":10019,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/37300876"},{"boilertext":null,"citation":null,"date":1992,"id":10020,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/60623861"},{"boilertext":null,"citation":null,"date":1980,"id":10021,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/1481856"},{"boilertext":"Grace Glueck, "Capitaliste et fier de l’etre,”\nConnaissance des arts, no. 363 (May 1982): pp. 77-83.","citation":"Grace Glueck, "Capitaliste et fier de l’etre,”\nConnaissance des arts, no. 363 (May 1982): pp. 77-83., p. 76 (illus.)","date":1982,"id":10022,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/6492703"},{"boilertext":null,"citation":null,"date":1980,"id":10023,"uri":"https://search.worldcat.org/en/title/865936641"}],"exhibitions":[],"geography":[],"terms":[{"id":2101703,"term":"motorcycles","aatid":300212789,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2055657,"term":"figures (representations)","aatid":300189808,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2052977,"term":"paintings","aatid":300033618,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2038530,"term":"Chilean","aatid":300107968,"termtype":"Culture"},{"id":2088270,"term":"men","aatid":300025928,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2053145,"term":"oil paintings","aatid":300033799,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2151023,"term":"sitting","aatid":null,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2055723,"term":"portraits","aatid":300015637,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2055723,"term":"portraits","aatid":300015637,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2130075,"term":"helmets","aatid":300036794,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2044653,"term":"canvas","aatid":300014078,"termtype":"Materials"},{"id":2167780,"term":"oil paint","aatid":300015050,"termtype":"Materials"}],"classifications":[{"id":2053145,"classification":"oil paintings"},{"id":2055723,"classification":"portraits"},{"id":2052977,"classification":"paintings"}],"cultures":[],"cultureterms":[{"id":2038530,"culture":"Chilean"}],"periods":[],"periodterms":[],"attribute_groups":[{"id":2199324,"term":"Art Since 1945","termtype":"Collecting Area"},{"id":2199332,"term":"Princeton Collects","termtype":"Archive | Collection"}],"dimensionelements":[{"element":"frame","type":"Height","units":"centimeters","dimension":"194.94"},{"element":"frame","type":"Width","units":"centimeters","dimension":"129.53"},{"element":"frame","type":"Depth","units":"centimeters","dimension":"6.34"},{"element":"Overall","type":"Height","units":"centimeters","dimension":"187.95"},{"element":"Overall","type":"Width","units":"centimeters","dimension":"121.91"}],"packages":[{"packageid":214385,"name":"web_Forbes"},{"packageid":264438,"name":"CFA-since-1-1-2024"},{"packageid":223482,"name":"Gallery_32(Pavilion9)-SpecX"},{"packageid":278831,"name":"10282025-DAY1-ONVIEW"}],"primaryimage":["https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/CFA-2_ref"],"displaymaker":"Claudio Bravo, 1936–2011; born Valparaíso, Chile; died Taroudant, Morocco; active Madrid, Spain and Tangier, Morocco","displayculture":null,"displayperiod":null,"caption":"Claudio Bravo (1936–2011; born Valparaíso, Chile; died Taroudant, Morocco; active Madrid, Spain and Tangier, Morocco), Portrait of Malcolm S.
