Using a wide range of media and techniques, including painting, performance, and film, Aylon (1931–2020) envisioned her practice as a form of exploration, emphasizing discovery rather than completion. She aligned this experimental approach with her feminism, often collaborating with other women on projects that drew attention to the female body, environmental fragility, and the inequities of the Jewish faith in which she was raised. This exhibition encapsulates Aylon’s efforts to demonstrate that openness to the contingencies of the body, the earth, and spirituality can facilitate understanding, and even healing.\r\n\r\nGuest curated by Rachel Federman\r\n","isvirtual":true,"begindate":"2024-09-14","enddate":"2025-02-02","uri":"https://artmuseum.princeton.edu/art/exhibitions/3822"}],"cultures":[],"primaryimage":["https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/2024_09_16_JH_0156"],"displaytitle":"Reimagination of Bridge of Knots","displayculture":null,"displaymaker":"Helène Aylon, 1931 - 2020; born, Brooklyn, NY; died, New York, NY","captionhtml":"Helène Aylon (1931 - 2020; born, Brooklyn, NY; died, New York, NY), Reimagination of Bridge of Knots, 1993 / 1995 / 2006.
