In Travelers in Mountains, horse riders and attendants traverse a steep mountain gorge on a road of planks built along the slopes (zhandao), crossing over a waterfall. Images of travelers on plank roads in a blue-green landscape are often associated with the Road to Shu, a difficult route to Sichuan province built and maintained since the 4th century b.c. In Isle of the Immortals, the brightly
colored halls amidst blue-green peaks set between clouds and waves likely allude to early legends of distant islands where the immortals lived in the eastern seas.","remarks":"Blue-Green Realms in Chinese Painting rotation September 2019 (group chat for y1947-271 and y1947-266) "}],"datebegin":0,"sortnumber":"1947 271y","published_date":"2026-02-11 09:55:04.174964","objectid":23350,"dimensions":"Painting: 27.2 x 20.2 cm.
