Old-fashioned sailing ships lie at anchor off the coast.\n</p>\n<p>\n\tBoudin was from a seafaring family in Le Havre, a harbor and resort town on France’s northern coast. Rather than work at sea, he ran a stationery and framing shop, exhibiting works by artists who explored maritime subjects. One of them, Constant Troyon, gave Boudin lessons in painting outdoors.
