Horizontal lines depict a staircase leading up to a royal palace. Warriors holding long spears stand at the bottom, on the same level as captives who are stripped of their finery and cluster together with cotton-wrapped tribute bundles. The captives and bundles are being given to the king above. The king, seated on a white throne, is framed by court assistants, one holding a fan and the other, perhaps\n\na bodyguard, peeking out from behind the throne. A war captain, who delivered the captives and tribute, kneels before the king. On the other side of the vessel, a secondary lord gestures toward the warriors, indicating his agency in their presence before this higher-ranking lord. The litter on which he arrived at this court appears below.\n","remarks":"AAA1_20_CLA_FA_9_17_25.pdf - Day 1 installation"}],"media":[{"id":15778,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/research.mayavase.com/kerrmaya_list.php?_allSearch","isprimary":0,"rank":10,"mediatypeid":7,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"Maya Vase Database"},{"id":197482,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12004","isprimary":1,"rank":1,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197483,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12007","isprimary":0,"rank":4,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197484,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12008","isprimary":0,"rank":5,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197485,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12009","isprimary":0,"rank":6,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197486,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12010","isprimary":0,"rank":7,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197487,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12011","isprimary":0,"rank":8,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197488,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12006","isprimary":0,"rank":3,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"},{"id":197489,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/PUAMSTU2016_12005","isprimary":0,"rank":2,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"PUAM photo"}],"hasimage":"true","bibliography":[{"boilertext":"Dorie Reents-Budet, \"The Art of Classic Vase Painting,\" in Maya: Gottkönige in Regenwald, ed.
