The artist was particularly interested in color, patterns, surface texture, and a sense of decorative richness. In the eighteenth-century imperial painting catalogue Shiqu baoji, this painting is recorded as an authentic work by the tenth-century master Huang Quan (903–968), whose spurious signature is hidden in the tree branch along the lower-right margin. Recent scholarship now attributes it to a follower of the noted painter Qian Xuan (about 1235–after 1300), working in the fourteenth century in southern China.","remarks":"Asian rotation February 2019"}],"media":[{"id":161111,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/STU00409","isprimary":1,"rank":1,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"Bruce White photography"},{"id":161112,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/STU00411","isprimary":0,"rank":2,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"Bruce White photography"},{"id":62230,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/INV08398","isprimary":0,"rank":21,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"Inventory Project"}],"hasimage":"true","bibliography":[{"boilertext":"Zhejiang daxue Zhongguo gudai shuhua yanjiu zhong xin 浙江大學中國古代書畫研究中心. Yuan hua quan ji. 5, 4 (元畫全集 第五卷第四冊).
