The drawing of two young lovers idealizes a universal emotion, without the literary or biographical references often favored by Rossetti and his followers. Stock exhibited a painted version of this work at the Royal Academy in 1894, and this drawing at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colors the following year, indicating the importance that the composition held for the artist.","remarks":"K4-6 Rotation July 2014"},{"texttype":"Online","textpurpose":"Provenance","textentryhtml":"Acquired from the artist by Francis P.
