Comparisons with  the designs of Northern Qi (550–577) stone-relief figures from the Xiangtangshan cave temples in Hebei province suggest a contemporaneous date; however, the tile’s glazing technique is associated with the Tang dynasty. The tiles probably lined the  walls or platform of a pagoda or tomb; at least twenty- four other tiles from the same set are known to survive.\n","remarks":"ASIA_15-TXX-1_CLA Day 1 Cataloguing- group chat for 1996-288, 1996-289, and 1996-290"}],"media":[{"id":1364,"uri":"https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/1996-288","isprimary":1,"rank":1,"mediatypeid":1,"mediaviewtype":"(not assigned)","restrictions":null,"caption":"Luna Digitization Project"}],"hasimage":"true","bibliography":[{"boilertext":"\"Acquisitions of the Art Museum 1996,\" <em>Record of the Art Museum, Princeton University</em> 56, no. 1/2 (1997): p. 75-115.","citation":"\"Acquisitions of the Art Museum 1996,\" <em>Record of the Art Museum, Princeton University</em> 56, no. 1/2 (1997): p. 75-115., p. 101","date":1997,"id":3051,"uri":"https://www.jstor.org/stable/3774760"}],"exhibitions":[],"geography":[{"displaygeography":"Place made: Asia, China","code":"Place made","continent":"Asia","subcontinent":null,"country":"China","region":null,"state":null,"city":null,"county":null,"subregion":null,"locale":null,"locus":null,"river":null,"excavation":null,"geoname":"http://www.geonames.org/1814991/people-s-republic-of-china.html","location":{"lat":"","lon":""}}],"terms":[{"id":2160816,"term":"ceramic tile","aatid":300010678,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2155779,"term":"relief","aatid":300053622,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2103918,"term":"horses","aatid":null,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2033355,"term":"Chinese","aatid":300018322,"termtype":"Culture"},{"id":2033480,"term":"Northern Qi","aatid":300018405,"termtype":"Period / Style"},{"id":2033522,"term":"Tang","aatid":300018420,"termtype":"Period / Style"},{"id":2049167,"term":"ceramics","aatid":300151343,"termtype":"Classification"},{"id":2147421,"term":"beasts","aatid":null,"termtype":"Subject"},{"id":2168031,"term":"glaze","aatid":300015091,"termtype":"Materials"},{"id":2157806,"term":"appliqué","aatid":300053646,"termtype":"Techniques"},{"id":2049225,"term":"earthenware","aatid":300140803,"termtype":"Materials"}],"classifications":[{"id":2155779,"classification":"relief"},{"id":2160816,"classification":"ceramic tile"},{"id":2049167,"classification":"ceramics"}],"cultures":[{"id":13592,"culture":"Chinese","alphasort":"Chinese","begindate":0,"enddate":0,"displayculture":"Chinese","displaydate":null}],"cultureterms":[{"id":2033355,"culture":"Chinese"}],"periods":[{"id":12536,"period":"Northern Qi","alphasort":"Northern Qi","begindate":550,"enddate":550,"displayperiod":"Northern Qi or, 550–577 CE","displaydate":"550–577 CE"},{"id":12547,"period":"Tang dynasty","alphasort":"Tang dynasty","begindate":618,"enddate":907,"displayperiod":"Tang dynasty, 618–907","displaydate":"618–907"}],"periodterms":[{"id":2033480,"period":"Northern Qi"},{"id":2033522,"period":"Tang"}],"attribute_groups":[{"id":2199319,"term":"Asian Art","termtype":"Collecting Area"}],"dimensionelements":[{"element":"Overall","type":"Height","units":"centimeters","dimension":"37.80"},{"element":"Overall","type":"Width","units":"centimeters","dimension":"36.40"},{"element":"Overall","type":"Depth","units":"centimeters","dimension":"5.50"}],"packages":[{"packageid":278831,"name":"10282025-DAY1-ONVIEW"},{"packageid":214208,"name":"Gallery_13-15(Pavilion4)-Asian"},{"packageid":181967,"name":"web_2020_Asian"}],"primaryimage":["https://media.artmuseum.princeton.edu/iiif/3/collection/1996-288"],"displaymaker":null,"displayculture":"Chinese","displayperiod":"Northern Qi or, 550–577 CE | Tang dynasty, 618–907","caption":"Chinese, Northern Qi or (550–577 CE), Tang dynasty (618–907), Winged horse beast, 6th or 7th century.
