He lived in Sichuan for the longest time and the strength of his character was common knowledge. His life of poetry revered Du Wenzhen [i.e., Du Fu]. In the jiashen cyclical year of the Guangxu reign [1884], the dafu official [i.e., Ding Baozhen 丁寶楨, the Governor-general of Sichuan] followed Lu Fangweng [i.e., Lu You 陸游] example of associated sacrifices and placed the lord to the left of Du Fu . . . . [Huang] Yungu, a 39th generation descendant of the lord, as made clear in the Pudie [geneology record], does not dare to face resentment and hid [this familial relationship], yet he cannot but not forget the generosity of dafu official honoring [the lord’s] former virtues.
