Set at an oblique angle, the camera captured light streaming through dust-streaked panes of glass as well as halos produced by the rays of light bouncing off its lens. Each photograph becomes a record of a transient moment, a combination of phenomena that cannot be recreated. For Barth, photography’s capacity to freeze ephemeral effects of light and atmosphere, allowing for extended contemplation, functions as a metaphor for the reflective nature of human consciousness.","remarks":"MM rotation January 2020"}],"datebegin":1999,"sortnumber":"2010  204","published_date":"2026-03-31 02:45:49.770621","objectid":60546,"dimensions":"sheet: 88.9 × 111.8 cm (35 × 44 in.)\r\nframe: 89.5 × 112.1 × 4 cm (35 1/4 × 44 1/8 × 1 9/16 in.)","on_view":false}
