By having two lines intersecting, you have a little small defined space.” In <i>Four Right Angles</i>, the first four plates of each row represent different permutations of the same “rule,” while the last plate of each row collates and summarizes the preceding  permutations. For Bartlett, this method of creation was not only a conceptual process but also a painterly one. As she later noted, “You’re going to get a variation in the thinness or thickness of the paint, you know, as it gets used up from the brush, and that creates its own\n\n\trhythm, which is not in the least a mechanical one.”\n</p>","remarks":"as per curator ModCon rotation July 2026"}],"datebegin":1972,"sortnumber":"2013 88 a mm","published_date":"2026-07-14 02:00:55.912945","objectid":90490,"dimensions":"each plate: 30.5 x 30.5 cm.
